Day 11 – Luke 10-13
January 24, 2008
This is the first time I picked up on the 72 returning with joy. I had always read it as pride. Funny how one skips over the words when reading and hear it differently when listening to the Word. It is interesting that Jesus was full of joy as well, and then he seems to go on to refer to the 72 as children. I can imagine them coming back sounding like children, filled with joy over the things they had seen and done.

I find such reassurance and hope in one of my favorite passages Luke 12:22-26. I see so many people that spend most of their time worrying. Especially some high school students. It is easy to see how it can control people. Today it is a lot more complex than food and clothes. There are so many things the enemy gives us to worry about. If we could just win the personal battle with worry so much more of our lives could be serving God. But hay don’t worry about it

Yep, that’s the passage that continues to speak to me, Jason. Obviously God is not telling us to avoid making plans for the future, as he planned for the future of Israel through Joseph’s position in Egypt, and Jesus made provisions for his mother even while hanging on the cross, but I think it’s the *preoccupation* with worrying about provisions and the future that he’s addressing.
