Quiet

We need quiet.

“But mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.”  Luke 2:19

It is in the quiet that we are able to ask ourselves questions that can change our future.  Leonard Sweet in his book, SoulSalsa, suggests these questions in times of quiet:  Am I doing what God is calling me to do?  Is my life pleasing to God?  Am I a change-the-world-person?  Could it be that we keep ourselves busy and surrounded by noise because we are afraid of asking the kinds of questions that connect our past with our future.  How have I lived my life so far?  And, how will I live from this day on?

This week I challenged myself and the people gathered at our Sunday service to create a quiet time each day for the next seven days.  During that quiet time do nothing but ponder and ask honest questions about your life and where it is going.  Share what you discover.
